Die Avid ist etwas schwerer als die AFTMA-Klassen, wodurch sie besonders für moderne, schnelle Ruten geeignet ist.   Verarbeitete RIO-Technologien Die Avid ist die preisgünstigste RIO Schnur, die bereits über AgentX und XS-Technologie verfügt.    AgentXUm Fliegenschüre schwimmfähig zu machen werden traditionellerweise gasgefüllte Glasperlen (sog. microspheres) in das Coating einer Schnur gemischt. Nach jahrelangen Experimenten ist es RIO gelungen ein Element zu entwickeln, das sechsmal mehr Auftriebskraft hat als jenes, das von den Mitbewerbern verwendet wird. Es war aber noch ein weiter Weg um dieses Element in den Herstellungsprozess der Schnüre zu integrieren. Mit der sogenannten Fusion Technology wird super schwimmendes Untercoating mit ultraglattem Außencoating verbunden. Das Ergebnis sind die glattesten, haltbarsten und höchst schwimmenden Schnüre, die man sich vorstellen kann. XS (Extreme Slickness)Fliegenfischer sind immer auf der Suche nach einer glatten Schnur. Glatte Schnüre bieten neben weiteren Würfen eine Vielzahl von weiteren Vorteilen für den Fischer. In den Labors von RIO wurden die verschiedensten Materialzusammenstellungen erprobt, bis es nach vielen Experimenten, sowohl im Labor als auch in der Praxis, das Geheimnis der XS-Technologie gefunden war. Das Ergebnis sind Schnüre, deren Oberfläche fühlbar glatter ist. In der Praxis führt dies zur besseren Schnurkontrolle, weniger Verschleiß, Verschmutzung und Reibungswiderstand in den Ringen. Und für uns als Fliegenfischer zu weiteren Würfen.  Welded LoopsDurch RIO’s Pionierleistung wurde ein bahnbrechendes Verfahren zum Verschmelzen der Schnurenden zu Schlaufen entwickelt. Mit Schlaufen versehene Schnurspitzen schwimmen besser und ermöglichen ein schnelles Wechseln von Vorfächern. Es werden beinahe alle Schnüre (den Hinweis entnehmen Sie bitte dem jeweiligen Schnur-Diagramm) mit den Welded Loops geliefert.
